WATC‘s Goals and Objectives

WATC seeks to eliminate all forms of discrimination against women, to develop the role of women in society, and to empower women to assume decision-making positions at all sectors with special attention to marginalized and less privileged women, particularly women in rural areas and refugees to facilitate their role in the process for national independence and social change. WATC's overall strategic objective for the current three-year strategy plan is to reduce gender-based discrimination against women in legislation, social practices, and access to leadership positions.

Program Goals and Objectives

In order to realize its internal and external vision, WATC pursues the following goals:

  • To develop the capacity of member grassroots women's organizations and centers and facilitate their role in the process of national struggle and social change

  • To improve the level of coordination and networking between these grassroots organizations and civil society organizations in order to build increased support for women's issues.

  • To ensure that legislation, laws, policies and programmes are gender se nsitive and supportive to women's rights and human rights

  • To develop the skills and competencies of women to reach decision-making levels in all spheres

  • To identify and nurture exceptional and talented women and support their initiatives

  • To promote social awareness of women's issues and their rights, and dismantle common stereotypes of women and their role in society

These goals are pursued by means of the following objectives.

Goal 1: To develop the capacity of member grassroots women's organizations and centers and facilitate their role in the process of national struggle and social change

Objectives:

  • Develop the infrastructure of the member women's organizations

  • Develop the administrative and financial systems and the bylaws that govern the organization's work process

  • Develop the skills of the human resources of the member women's organizations

Goal 2: To improve the level of coordination and networking between these grassroots organizations and civil society organizations in order to build increased support for women's issues.

Objectives:

  • Improve the data management system of the member women's organizations

  • Improve the skills of the member organizations in networking, advocacy and in using the internet

Goal 3: To ensure that legislation, laws, policies and programmes are gender se nsitive and supportive to women's rights and human rights.

Objectives:

  • Review laws and draft laws, policies and legislation to ensure that they are not gender insensitive and to advocate for protection of women and their rights in all spheres of life.

  • Advocate with decision makers and community for equal rights and human rights-ba se d laws

  • Equip decision makers with the skills and information necessary for an adequate gender reading of laws, programs, policies, and budgets

Goal 4:To develop the skills and competencies of women to be able to reach decision-making positions at all levels

Objectives:

  • Build the assertiveness, leadership and communication skills of rural women to empower them as active participants in community decision-making processes

  • Equip young women and men with advocacy and community management skills in order to be able to play a leading role in the transformation of their communities and in the advocacy and awareness campaign

  • Equip local council candidates during the fifth pha se with knowledge and skills related to their role in the local council and electoral campaign administration

  • Equip professional and working women and men to play a leading role in the transformation of their communities and in the advocacy and awareness campaign

Goal 5: To identify and nurture exceptional and talented women and support their initiatives

Objectives:

  • Support and encourage women's creative initiatives

  • Raise awareness of gender mainstreaming in creative initiative

Goal 6: To promote social awareness of women's issues and their rights, and erasing common stereotypes of women and their role in society

Objectives:

  • Sensitize the community to different women roles in society

  • Enhance dis se mination of information about women's rights and gender issues

  • Promote more media friendly to women's issues and rights

Institutional Goals

Goal: To develop the capacity of WATC to provide quality se rvices to target groups

Objectives:

  • Improve the data management system at WATC
  • Continue upgrading financial and administrative systems and reviewing the bylaws that organize the work process at WATC
  • Develop the training and resource center and the internet center to play a more effective role in the advocacy and gender mainstreaming of women's rights
  • Develop the WATC media unit to be able to play a more effective role in the media awareness campaign
  • Continue upgrading the skills of WATC staff to provide more efficient and effective services.
