Condemnation statement

Women's Affairs Technical Committee denounce the killing of Ola Hasan Safi (31 years), from the Maghazi refugee camp / Gaza Strip on Tuesday 24/3/2009, a few days after the birth of her baby. We demand that the Public Prosecutor take measures to ensure the disclosure of the circumstances of this crime and bring the killers to justice.

 

WATC Stress the need to stop the leniency with women's killings, which are usually considered as honor killings. Nevertheless, they are crimes of premeditated murder, and most have nothing to do with the honor of the family, and they are mostly as a result of other issues and the woman is the victim in these cases.

 

WATC calls to track down the killers, and impose severe penalties against them for committing such a heinous crime against this mother, and demands that the Palestinian legislative authorities draw up laws to protect the Palestinian women from these crimes against humanity.
