WATC‘s Vision

External Vision:
The Women’s Affairs Technical Committee believes in building a diverse and democratic society that respects human rights, in which all people live in dignity and security, free of all forms of discrimination on the basis of religion, color or sex.

Internal Vision:
WATC seeks a central role in developing the women’s movement, building on the reputation it has developed locally and internationally for credibility, transparency and integrity and for its ability to produce change in the situation of women by helping them to organize and facilitating their participation at decision making levels. WATC seeks to widen its popular base and to expand its membership to become a strong and coherent women's coalition in order to play an effective and distinctive role on various levels, particularly in the political arena. It works to develop its capabilities and the capabilities of women’s bodies and organizations that are based at the grassroots level.

WATC's philosophy is that the social struggle for the full emancipation of all members of the Palestinian society - particularly women – must go hand in hand with the national struggle for the liberation of Palestine. While some take the position that social issues should be put on hold so as to avoid internal divisions during the national struggle, WATC holds that for the national struggle to be victorious it is necessary for every Palestinian – both man and woman – to engage their full capacity and that a liberation struggle cannot succeed with half of the popular power base neutralized or restricted.
